Howdy!
The fountain was made by J.L. Mott Ironworks in 1849. More information about Square Saint Louis (also known as carré Saint-Louis) is here, here and here.

Joli !
Si je savais comment, je mettrais bien cette fontaine comme fond d’écran en “loop” continuel
That’s my favorite fountain in Montreal. I spent a lot of time around that thing in the late 80s and early 90s when I had a lot more spare time on my hands. I wrote a story about it on my blog in 2006:

I went for a swim in that fountain a few nights ago! Thanks for the info on the park. I’m really enjoying this occasional series of fountains.
One of my favorite fountains in Montreal is La Joute in the old port. What fountain can really top one that gets lit on fire every hour? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Joute
Howdy!
Thanks, and I agree that la Joute is a kick-ass fountain. Unfortunately it gets busted far too frequently. If you can read French, you should check out Les Folles Vies de La Joute de Riopelle by Jacques Keable http://www.luxediteur.com/content/les-folles-vies-de-la-joute-de-riopelle It’s a great history about the fountain.
