The Rose Garden at Hélène de Champlain

Howdy!

As I said yesterday, I was on Île Sainte-Hélène earlier this week, and the haut-gamme, fancy-ass, upscale and real expensive restaurant Hélène de Champlain closed and they are doing some sort of renovations on it. But what I didn’t know and fascinated me was the rose garden in front of it. Next year I’m going to have to go back earlier in the season. because it was kind of slim pickings in mid-September.

I know of a couple of other fruit trees in town, and the Jardin botanique de Montréal also has some fruits and vegetables at this time of year. But the people who would be most up to date about where you can eat off the sidewalks would be the fine folk at the Collectif de recherche sur l’aménagement paysager et l’agriculture urbaine durable (who are also responsible for the garden at the Université du Québec à Montréal.

McDonalds Hamburger 1967 is actually from 1968

I found out yesterday that McDonalds has a Quebec-only burger called the Hamburger 1967

One problem, Magic Carpet Ride, the song used in their TV advertisements was released in September 1968.

The Joshua Fiddler Interview [The Montreal Burger Report]

Back on May 10, Moishe’s Steakhouse had a launch for their 3 Hours to Midnight menu (which includes a burger) and introduced their new chef Joshua Fiddler. We took advantage of the situation to interview Mr. Fiddler, along with Bartek Komorowski from Culinary Propaganda and Fast Food Fred. We talked to the new chef at Moishe’s about the changes to their menu, some of the difficulties he had, and, obviously, their hamburger.
